Mold 028: THE LAND OF GODS

Symbol: The Northern Tradition of ancient Slavs and other European peoples maintains that the gods descended to the Earth through the Pole Star. They descended to the North Pole, which at that time was the center of the Northern Continent, known as Hyberborea in ancient Greek texts (it was located in the Northern Ocean and later sank just like Atlantis did). It is on the North Pole that gods delivered to the humanity the spiritual teachings and taught humans the crafts practices to the present day...

The center of this mold - where all lines converge - represents the North Pole as the spiritual center of the Earth. The insinuating lines running from it represent rivers, crosses represent fields and plains, and triangles - mountain ranges. So, here is the map of the Earth as viewed from "above", i.e., from the North Pole. This sacred land of ancestors is surrounded by the halo of sunshine (triangles running in the circle around the whole design), and is floating on the waives of the Ocean of the Universe (the wave-like border of the mold).

So, you have "a Northern Continent" in the center of your mold. But why is it divided in 4 parts? And why is this cross at an angle? And what about this continent anyway? Everybody heard about Atlantis, but who knows about "a Northern Continent"?

...Gerard Mercator, one of the most renowned 16th century's cartographers, was known for his most detailed maps of continents, which - amazingly - were at that time unexplored by European sailors. Where did he get his cartographic information, then? In fact, there are reasons to believe that he was making use of a library of maps which had been compiled in times prior to ancient Egypt and passed on from Egyptian priests through arcane societies and lodges until he got hold of them in the mid-1500's. On left is his map of the Arctic... It has striking resemblance to the design on the mold... And this is just the beginning of a story...

Wood: yellow birch (Betula alleghaniensis). The mold is traditionally treated: permeated with 100% natural beeswax (to seal wood's pores, make it waterproof and durable, and highlight the natural beauty and intensity of color of the yellow birch wood), and covered with 100% organic food grade linseed oil (to add a glossy shiny look).

Dimensions: 9 1/2 x 9 1/2 x 1 5/8 in (23,8 x 24 x 4 cm).
