Mold 029: THE LAND OF GODS Symbol: The Northern Tradition of ancient Slavs and other European peoples maintains that the gods descended to the Earth through the Pole Star. They descended to the North Pole, which at that time was the center of the Northern Continent, known as Hyberborea (it was located in the Northern Ocean and later sank just like Atlantis did). It is on the North Pole that gods delivered to the humanity the spiritual teachings and taught humans the crafts practices to the present day...The center of this mold - where all lines converge - represents the North Pole as the spiritual center of the Earth. The insinuating lines running from it represent rivers, crosses represent fields and plains, and triangles - mountain ranges. So, here is the map of the Earth as viewed from "above", i.e., from the North Pole. This sacred land of ancestors is surrounded by the halo of sunshine (triangles running in the circle around the whole design), and is floating on the waives of the Ocean of the Universe(the wave-like border of the mold). Wood: black walnut (Juglans nigra), which is very dense and durable. Even though it is so hard to carve, I only used simple hand tools for carving. I do not use any power tools or electric equipment to carve any of my molds. They are all authentically handmade and hand-rubbed with food-grade organic linseed oil to preserve the wood, enhance the wood grain and pattern and with the mold its shiny look.
