MOLD 501

Symbol: lion, unicorn, Sirin-bird. The writing around the border reads: Pit' i est' na zdravie s dobrymi ljud'mi chinia besedu a ni so is pserdom izh sei prianik patochnyi ("Drink and eat to your health, conversing with good people, but not with evil people, this pranik of molasses"). It is a copy of an ancient Russian mold that Master Ladonin discovered during one of his expeditions and restored. The 18th-century original is at the folk art museum in Tver, an ancient city 150 miles north-west of Moscow.

Wood: birch (Betula pendula).

Dimensions: 26 1/2 x 12 1/2 x 1 1/2 in (53 x 31 x 3 cm).
